I’m Guilty of This Too!
Have you noticed over the last few years that we don’t plan things very far in advance?
Maybe it’s just me.
But it seems like we don’t plan things out much further than next week. The thought of something happening in 3-6 months feels “too far out there” to worry about.
After all, we’ve got plenty to keep us busy with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, email, phone calls, instant messages, etc. (did I miss something?).
The problem: we’re so anchored in the urgency of the here and now that we don’t pull our heads up and see what’s coming down the pike.
The solution: I’m not 100% sure… but here’s my best guess…
- Raise your consciousness by looking a year out more often than just January 1 of each year.
- Decide where you want to be in a year and work backward to define the ACTIONS you need to take to get there.
- Take stock every week of where you are in relation to your goal(s) for the year.
I think those 3 steps alone will help us all plan and execute a whole lot better.
