You may not realize this…
But I’ve been doing the Letting The Chickens Our series for several years…
That’s kind of SCARY!
I didn’t realize I’ve been doing it this long.
It’s a HUGE responsibility (for the chickens and otherwise)!
So…
What I want to share with you today is the following thought!
How to avoid the time suck and get a LOT more done a LOT faster?
Before I share the answer…
What exactly is a “time suck?”
It could be any number of things, ranging from watching Netflix during the day when you should be working to rewriting the same email message over and over again because you’re pissed off!
The time suck refers to that moment when something wastes your time and leaves you feeling worn out.
I bet you’ve experienced a time suck, too!
It leaves you feeling:
- Exhausted
- Like you’ve wasted a lot of time
- Almost like you’re guilty of something bad
Luckily, I found a solution…
You can defeat the time suck by following these steps:
#1 Acknowledge
The first thing you need to do is tell yourself: I’m stuck in a time suck!
Be brave and tell yourself it’s time to get out of the time suck.
Acknowledge the time suck is your enemy!
#2 Give it 5 minutes
It would help if you allowed yourself 5 minutes to consciously acknowledge the time suck.
In fact, you might want to use a stopwatch to avoid wasting unnecessary time!
Let yourself genuinely acknowledge the problem of the time suck and then consciously move forward!
#3 Move on
Now that you’re officially saying to yourself, “I’m in a time suck!” you should move forward.
Write down the three most important things you want to get done today.
Then, focus on the first item on your to-do list and get it done!
Then, move on to the next item and the next.
The Takeaway
That’s how you escape a time suck!
It’s as simple as it gets!
- Acknowledge the problem
- Let it sink in for 5 minutes
- Build a short list of 3 things you have to get done today
- Start working
That’s how I do it!
Anyway, if you ever find yourself in a time suck when writing ads, emails, or creating any of the stuff you need, you should check out my Sales Copywriting and Content Marketing Hacks Facebook group.
“Six days after completing the course, I finished my first eBook…”
“If you’re serious about writing an eBook and actually getting it published on the Internet, you can’t do better than Jim Edwards’ course, 7Day eBook. Edward’s original book was good, but this updated course brings the information into the age of the Kindle and other eBook readers.
The session on choosing an eBook topic that has sales potential is actually worth the full price of the course. Can it work? Well, I can tell you that six days after completing the course, I finished my first eBook, complete with cover graphics and an audiobook version as a bonus. Get the course, follow the instructions, publish, rinse, and repeat.”
