Do You Make These Mistakes With Webinars? (And KILL Your Sales In The Process)

Mistake #1: Go Too Long

Everybody’s time is at a premium these days.

Nobody has time to waste… especially if they don’t see a specific payoff as the the webinar unfolds for them.

Shoot for an hour (including pitch) if you want to keep the maximum number of people LIVE on your webinar.

Mistake #2: Kill Them With Knowledge

We tend to want to share “everything” so people will “love” us and want to spend money.

But covering too many topics will just create confusion in the minds of your audience… and cause them to say NO to your offer.

Build your webinar around a central payoff and use that as the big reason for them to sign up, show up, and BUY at the end.

Mistake #3: Talk Too Long Without Changing Screens

We all think what we have to share is SUPER important, but it’s really not.

People’s attention spans fade after just a few seconds… things on your screen need to change OFTEN if you want to keep your audience’s attention.

That means changing the images, text, and even the background every 3-10 seconds to keep their attention.

Do NOT put up a screen and then talk for 5 minutes with nothing changing… it’s the surest way to KILL your results.

Mistake #4: Boring… Boring… Boring

Do you remember the most boring teacher you ever had in school?

I do. The guy spoke in a monotone… his facial expressions never changed… he wore clothes 20 years out of date (bad visuals) and he was about as much fun to see as watching paint dry.

Don’t be that guy (or girl… or person… or spirit animal)!

You gotta get REVVED up so your audience gets excited about you, your topic, and your presentation.

Mistake #5: Talking AT Your Audience

If they wanted to just watch a video, they could jump over to YouTube and choose from about 800 million of them.

Your webinar is NOT a video… it’s an experience involving real people.

Never forget there’s a LIVE audience out there… not some nameless web statistics.

Mistake #6: Don’t Do Your Homework

If you want to screw this up, make sure you treat all audiences the same and assume you know better than they do.

If you want to crush your webinar, know your audience better than they know themselves!

Know their hopes… their dreams… their fears… all their emotional hot buttons!

Then, use that understanding to connect, influence, and impact your audience better than anyone else.

Mistake #7: No Reason To Stick Around

Nobody does anything without a reason, and that includes sticking around to the end of your webinar.

If you want them to stick around to the end, give them a reason… a bribe!

This can be anything from a handout… to a download… to a secret… to a website… ANYTHING! It just needs to be cool and something they really want.

Mistake #8: Let The Fish Off The Hook With A Replay

NEVER tell people there will be a replay for sure… you never know, the recording might get screwed up!

If people think they can get the replay, they won’t show up live!

If someone asks if there’ll be a replay, tell them. “I’m not sure… best to be there live!”
